Appointments are available for children, adolescents and adults through face-to-face and telehealth services, subject to availability.

After-hours and weekend appointments may also be available depending on clinician availability.

Available Australia-wide for suitable clients and services.

Private Appointments

No referral is required for private psychology services.

Medicare Appointments

Your first appointment will focus on understanding your needs, strengths and goals.

Helpful Information Before Your Appointment

The first appointment focuses on getting to know you and understanding what has brought you to psychology. We may discuss your current concerns, relevant history, personal strengths, goals and any supports already involved in your care. There is no expectation to share everything during the first session. Building a comfortable therapeutic relationship takes time.

Appointment Options

Face-to-face and telehealth appointments are available, subject to clinician availability and the suitability of the service. Telehealth can be a flexible option for individuals and families living in regional areas, managing busy schedules or preferring to attend from home. After-hours and weekend appointments may be available.

Referrals and Funding

NM Psychology accepts clients through a range of private and funded pathways.

These may include:

  • Private referrals
  • Medicare Mental Health Treatment Plans
  • NDIS self-managed and plan-managed funding
  • WorkCover
  • TAC
  • Work and Development Permit services

 

Requirements vary depending on the funding pathway.

Preparing for Your Appointment

You may be asked to provide information that helps NM Psychology understand your needs and prepare for the appointment.

This may include:

  • Referral documents
  • Mental Health Treatment Plan
  • Previous reports or assessments
  • School or medical information
  • NDIS or funding documentation
  • Details of current supports
  • A list of questions or concerns

No referral is required for private psychology appointments.

A valid referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan are required if you wish to access Medicare rebates.

Standard psychology appointments are generally 50 minutes.

Assessment appointments may vary depending on the type of assessment being completed.

Yes. Telehealth appointments are available Australia-wide where clinically suitable.

For children and adolescents, parent or caregiver involvement may form an important part of the process.

For adults, family members or support people may attend where appropriate and with the client’s consent.

The frequency of appointments depends on individual needs, goals and circumstances.

Some clients attend weekly or fortnightly, while others may attend less frequently.

Bring any relevant referral documents, reports, funding information or questions you would like to discuss.

You will be advised if specific documents are required.

Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, may incur a cancellation fee.

Please contact NM Psychology as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule.

After-hours and weekend appointments may be available depending on clinician availability.

Private and Medicare appointments are generally paid at the time of service.

Invoices and receipts can be provided where required.
